A WORD FROM THE EDITOR
The changing of seasons is upon us, did everyone get up to some good trouble this summer?
This round of Butter includes lots of little tweaks that I’m excited to have implemented in the site moving forward. So if you would, take a little time to ogle at the writer’s box, playlist article, and read more sections, I’m very proud of them.
Part of this push for changes to the site is due to a progression in content, since this issue is the first to feature an outside writer! I am so grateful to Erin Spong for returning to Butter Mag, this time as a writer, to share her thoughts on the ski industry. More than that she patiently worked with me through logistics to help me set up a system to support future freelance writers. So thank you to Erin for being an absolute pleasure and an amazing writer.
Of course I can’t write an editor’s note without thanking my amazing support system that makes this whole project feasible. So thank you to Emma for leaving copious notes and asking the hard questions on my articles. She digs through the chaos to help me find my voice. Thank you to Christi, who pulled on a 5mm wetsuit on a 90 degree day to help me with a last minute photoshoot, and always makes sure my writing puts the story first. Thank you to Simon, who was out doing kickflips with a book within a couple hours of me texting him on a random Tuesday afternoon. And of course thank you to everyone else, who has helped me ideate future content, taught me about the smooth tool in Adobe Illustrator, and given me wonderful design feedback. Every bit of help makes this whole crazy idea seem a bit more possible.
Finally, thank you so much to you, the reader, for being here. I hope these stories inspire you to be you while you go out and do what you love or try something new. Know that you’re never alone and that there’s a whole community of people ready to get stoked with you.
I hope everyone has an amazing Fall filled with lots of adventures and I’ll see you in the next one.
